Digital invitations for housewarmings, birthdays and anniversaries in India
How a housewarming, birthday, or anniversary invitation should read when it is a link, not a wedding website with the names swapped.
These are not short weddings
A housewarming, a birthday, and an anniversary can use the same Maṅgalya invitation tools as a wedding: one link, edits after you send, an optional RSVP, maps, and a photo wall. The wording should not pretend there is a baraat. Guests notice when a griha pravesh page is dressed as a three-day wedding.
Pick the occasion when you start. The gallery has wedding designs and, as of 26 September 2026, newer housewarming and birthday templates alongside them. An anniversary can start from a celebration design and be rewritten. You are not locked to the sample names.
Design is free. You pay ₹799 when you publish and share. RSVP is still the ₹399 add-on if you want replies on the page. A small dinner does not have to collect RSVPs to be a real invitation.
WhatsApp is still how the link will travel. Write so the preview line and the first screen say what the event is, whose it is, and when. People decide whether to open from that, especially for a birthday that is not a family obligation.
Housewarmings
Say whose home, the pooja or griha pravesh time if there is one, and the time guests can arrive for lunch or evening. A pooja at 8:30 and lunch at 1:00 are different visits. Put both on the page if both are real.
New addresses are the entire point. Put the map and a landmark in the venue block before you share the link. Friends who knew the old flat will drive there if you only write “our new place” and a pin that they do not tap.
If the gathering is small, say so. “A few friends after the pooja” is a kinder instruction than an open link forwarded to an office group. You can still use a password on the invitation if you want the page private.
Edit the page when the priest’s time moves. The same link updates. You do not need a new broadcast for a half-hour shift, though one line in the group is polite.
Birthdays
Lead with the person and the age or the milestone only if they want it printed. Some fiftieth birthdays want the number. Some do not. Ask before you publish. The sample text in a template is not a decision.
One venue and one time are usually enough. If there is cake at 4 and dinner at 8, say whether guests are expected for both. Parents hosting a children’s party should say the end time. Adults will plan a pickup around it.
A photo wall fits a birthday if you want pictures from the room without collecting them in a chat that mutes you. The base publish includes 20 slots. It is optional. A quiet dinner does not need one.
RSVP helps when you are booking a table or a hall. For a house party with a loose list, a form can feel formal. Use it when the count changes what you cook or what you pay the venue.
Anniversaries
Name the couple and the year if that is the celebration, then the plan: a prayer at home, a dinner, a renewal. Guests need the plan more than a paragraph about the marriage. Save the longer note for people who will read it, under the facts.
If children are hosting for their parents, the host line should say that. Guests otherwise reply to the couple and surprise the children who booked the room. The same rule as a wedding applies: who is inviting, in the first lines.
Outstation family will look for hotels and the map. Add them. Multi-venue directions and the travel kit are the same optional add-ons as on a wedding, at ₹79 and ₹49, only if you use them.
Dress codes are optional. If the evening is at a club that requires one, say the club’s rule, not a theme you invented. People will follow a door policy. They will negotiate a colour palette.
Share once, correct on the page
Send the link to the people invited, in the chats that match the list. A housewarming link in a 200-person wedding group is how you get strangers at the pooja. The WhatsApp guide covers forwarding.
You can change the time, the address, or the note after sending. Publish when the address and the time are right. Add a menu line later if you care. Do not wait for perfect wording on a Tuesday dinner.
Engagements use the same product if you need them, with their own occasion. This page is for the celebrations that are not the wedding itself. The homepage lists the occasions the editor can start from.
Open the editor, choose the occasion, and write the host, the time, and the place on one page. Pay ₹799 when you publish. Keep every correction on that link.
A housewarming that includes a pooja and a lunch should say which one neighbours are invited to. A birthday at a restaurant should name the booking and the end time, because the table will not stay yours all evening. An anniversary dinner hosted by children should say how to reach the couple if the children are the ones on the invitation. Those are ordinary sentences. They are also the ones people message you about when they are missing.
You can keep the page short. Three blocks — who, when, where — beat a wedding-length story on a Tuesday gathering. Add a map. Add RSVP only if a missing reply costs you a seat or a plate. Add the photo wall only if you want the pictures on the same link instead of in a chat that will be muted by Sunday.
If the date moves by a day, change the page before you change your own status. People who saved the link will refresh it. People who only saw a story will not. The invitation is the record. The chat is how you tell them the record changed.
