Our story

The first thing your guests see should feel like the wedding itself.

Maṅgalya is a small, founder-led studio reimagining the Indian wedding invitation. Digital first, deeply South Indian, and built so that nothing as important as your celebration ever waits on a printer.

Why we exist

We watched this happen one too many times.

Priya and Rahul sent out 240 cards. A week later, the hall in T. Nagar called: their ballroom was double-booked. Apology messages went out. New cards were rushed at 3x the price. Two grandmothers got the wrong address.

The invitation was meant to be a small joy. Instead, it became the first thing that went wrong about the wedding.

Maṅgalya began with one stubborn question: why should something this meaningful feel this fragile?

What we believe

Four principles, held without exception.

  1. 1

An invitation is the first ritual.

Before the muhurat, before the mandap, before the meal, the invite tells everyone what kind of celebration this will be. We design as if someone’s grandmother is the first reader.

  2. 2

    Tradition is not a costume.

No cliché borders, no gimmicky om motifs. We work with restraint: real typography, careful spacing, and ornament that actually means something to a South Indian household.

  3. 3

Edits should not cost a reprint.

A muhurat shifts. The hall changes at the last minute. With Maṅgalya, the link stays the same and the truth updates everywhere. No group apologies, no second printer run.

  4. 4

Premium is not a price tier.

Every template is held to a designer-grade bar. If a layout doesn’t feel composed in 6 seconds on a phone, it doesn’t ship.

Beyond the invite

The stories we rescue, bind, and hand back to you

Maṅgalya began with invitations. Many families also ask for the rest of the memory — tapes, albums, candid frames, films, scrapbooks, and tiny motion stories. Here is that journey, the way we would tell it over filter coffee.

Tape rescue

The cupboard that still hums

VHS stacks from a naming ceremony, a grainy reception, your parents’ wedding. We transfer them to pendrive, CD, or a link you can open on a phone — so the handwriting on the label outlives the plastic.

Albums

Spreads that behave like heirlooms

Not a dump of files — paced spreads of the oonjal, the garland, the tired joy at night’s end. Swipe-friendly for family abroad, print-ready when you want paper in your hands.

The day itself

Candid frames, full-arc films

Sideways glances, the flower girl mid-sprint, muhurtham through reception. Coverage that stays close enough to feel the room and quiet enough that the moment forgets the camera.

Afterglow

Scrapbooks & motion stories

Invitation motifs, handwritten notes, and stills woven into one scroll — or short cinematic cuts with gentle movement for the family group the week after, and every anniversary after that.

Ready when you are

Tell us what you have — tapes, hard drives, or a rough idea. We will suggest a sensible path. No jargon unless you like jargon.

An invitation is not paper. It is the first time your wedding becomes real to everyone you love. We treat it that way, with the patience of a printer, the eye of a designer, and the calm of someone who has already been through one big Indian wedding.
